What’s covered today:
1. Ontario Business AODA reminder.
2. Season of planning for next year and giving thanks.
3. Fractional HR and OD expertise - what is it? How can it benefit SMBs?
1. Ontario Business AODA reminder
Gearing Up For 2024: If your Ontario business has more than 20 employees, remember to file your AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act) compliance report by Dec. 31, 2023.
Whether you have 20 employees or not, there are a number of legislative requirements you need to fulfill. Make sure your HR practices, policies, and procedures meet these requirements (e.g., employee and volunteer training on AODA and Ontario Human Rights, Accessibility Policy, Accommodation Policy, Return to Work practices and forms, AODA Multi-Year Plan, and more).
If you’re not sure where to start or what’s involved, book an appointment with us and we’ll figure out together what you need to do.
2. Season of planning for next year and giving thanks
For many businesses, Quarter 4 is the time of year to dive into strategic planning. Remember to include people planning, culture management, and value review in your strategic plans.
Read more about this in our blog - “Nailing Your Strategic Plan: include people, culture, and values.”
Very importantly, remember to thank your employees. Although this can happen all year long, the season of giving is a nice reminder of this. And, while you’re in this mind set, consider drafting a recognition and appreciation plan for next year.
Ideas of what you may wish to include in the recognition/appreciation plan for next year:
• Service anniversaries.
• Appreciation events such as holiday events, summer BBQs, family day events, and more.
• Bonuses or gifts for project completions.
• Yearly or semi-yearly compensation reviews to remain competitive.
• Similarly, review your benefit strategy, including working arrangements; flexibility can be a retention strategy.
• Special days off to volunteer and/or give back to the local community, alone or as a team (adding purpose to team events heightens their value!)
3. Fractional Human Resources and Organizational Development Expertise
